Main Blog relationship tips stories

I’m a collector of experiences and colorful stories created by friends and myself. I enjoy sharing those relationship stories for growth, self-awareness and to show others that we are all the same with certain uniqueness.

God’s Love Kisses

Love kisses from God is what I like to call unexpected little nudges—spectacular bouts of kindness, grace out of nowhere, and mercy when we don’t deserve it. They are the many ways God gives us His attention to let us know that He’s there. He surrounds us in the midst of trouble or in times when we just need a pep in our step. God knows what each one of His children needs and what we need at different times.

The God who created us can simply say, “Oh, my precious child—you need a compliment out of nowhere to remind you that you’re seen.” I love how God speaks to us through His Word.

In the story of Noah, the ark was created to preserve God’s chosen family who were in right standing with the Lord. A great flood covered the earth, and once the flood was gone, civilization would repopulate the earth. God made a symbol for mankind to know that He would never flood the earth again. The symbol is a rainbow in the sky.

When we see that rainbow during cloudy or rainy days, we remember God’s oath and love for us. His love kisses paint the sky when it’s dreary.

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds.”
Genesis 9:12–14 (ESV)

We are reminded that even when life feels gloomy, God has given us a promise that something beautiful can come out of dark times. We have His earthly kiss to hold onto. That kiss is for everyone. I love my God kisses.

The uniqueness of plants, flowers, and animals—the beauty of creation—are kisses from God that He wants us to enjoy. God’s love is the same for all His children, yet uniquely personal to each of us.

There have been times in my life when the spirit of defeat came upon me. I would work endlessly on a blog only to have a few people read it. The time and effort sometimes felt as if no one cared. One day, a colleague asked when I was going to update my blog because she hadn’t seen any new posts. She told me she really enjoyed my blogs.

I was smitten by her words. They awakened a part of my heart that had been saddened. My outward smile began to light up the inward part of my heart that had been dormant. When I smiled, it was to thank the Lord for sending me one of His God kisses through my colleague.

He—the Creator of the world—felt my little pangs of defeat and showed me that someone cared. Someone was interested in my stories. Don’t worry about the others, but remember the one.

It reminds me of the scripture in the Bible that speaks about Jesus going after the one out of the ninety-nine sheep.

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.”
Matthew 18:12–14 (NIV)

If Jesus can focus His attention on the one, we can keep our minds fixed on the One as well. And Jesus is the One we should be doing everything for.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

When we fix our hearts and minds on the one true God, He is working everything out for our good.

I pay attention to God’s love kisses in my life and how they show up. It becomes a moment for me to pause and say, “Thank you, Lord. I know that was you.” I smile at Him while He smiles back.

When the Bible says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7), it reminds us that He wants to be there for us in the big parts of our lives and the small parts that may only seem significant to us.

Story time with Shell.

I was driving down a busy street heading home. There was a major intersection with two lanes turning left. I was driving in the far-left lane beside those turning lanes as we approached the upcoming traffic light. Suddenly, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Go to the next lane.”

I instantly moved to the middle lane, creating space between me and the left-turn lane. Within seconds of me changing lanes, the car in the left-turn lane dashed out into the lane I had just been in. The cars in that lane screeched to a stop and began blowing their horns.

You see, I would have been instantly hit by that car that swerved into my previous lane. At the speed I was going, it would have been a collision.

In that moment, I paused and said, “I see you, Lord…thank you for my God kisses. I love you so much.”

There have also been times when He has shown me grace and mercy that I didn’t deserve. In those moments, I pause again and say, “I see you, Lord…thank you for my God kisses.”

God uses people and situations to point us back to Him. We have to recognize Him in everything.

God and I even share humorous moments together. Does God like to laugh? Of course He does.

“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22 (KJV)

I remember driving to a plaza looking for a parking space close to the store.

And just like that, there was a perfect parking spot waiting for me. I didn’t have to walk a mini mile to the store. I paused and said, “God, I see you…you’re going to make space for your girl.” I imagine Him smiling and laughing, saying, “Whoop—let there be space.”

The love kisses we share with Him can be big or small. God loves us, and He shows us His love in different ways. Pay attention to God’s love kisses throughout the day and throughout your life.

How do we reflect the God kisses in our lives? Are we open to the Holy Spirit so He can work through us?

God wants us to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit so He can use us to deliver His God kisses.

I could write for days about the different times God has used me to send a God kiss to someone else. As a realtor, I once had a closing on a house where I received a commission. Matter of fact, I had two closings around the same time.

I talk to the Holy Spirit all the time—He’s my imaginary friend. Cats out of the bag.

I asked the Lord how I could help others and show the love of God. In my prayer closet—also known as the shower—He said, “Give it to your Aunt.”

The image of my Auntie Jackie’s face floated before my eyes. So the Lord and I began conversing.

“How much, Lord?”

He said, “All of it.”

Now mind you, I had two closings coming up. I asked Him, “Which one?”

He said, “The first one.”

Now the Lord and I were in a serious discussion.

“But the first one is the largest! How about the second one?”

He said again, “The first one.”

There are so many God lessons in that story that I’ll need to unpack in another post. I asked the Lord to show me a sign that it was truly Him speaking and not just my own thoughts. I asked Him to give me peace about it.

He spoke to me through a dream, through His Word, and through a deep knowing. I stopped wrestling with the Lord. I surrendered and felt peace.

He wanted me to show Aunt Jackie that He had heard her prayers and seen the unspoken desires of her heart. My Aunt Jackie is devoted to Christ and gives her time, love, and dedication to God’s people. Sowing a seed in her life would be planting in good soil.

I smiled and said, “Thank you, Lord, for your God kisses.”

God has used me as His vessel to perform countless acts of kindness for others. And He has used others to show me countless acts of kindness that only He could orchestrate through His God kisses.

Think of ways you can allow God to use you as a vessel to send His God kisses:

• Send a special “just because” gift to someone
• Let people know that God loves them and sees them through kind words
• Be obedient when God prompts you to bless someone
